NLC's Home Resource Center continues partnering with local agencies

Last week I encouraged you to read the amazing work of CarePortal, a national partner with our Home Resource Center. Almost every week we receive requests from our regional child welfare services through CarePortal to provide for needs of children and families in Dinuba and the area.

This week our Home Resource Center partnered with The Parenting Network, part of the Tulare County Family Resource Center Network.  The Parenting Network's mission is to improve the quality of life for children, including those with special needs, through family-centered practices, and through services and information for all families and the professionals who serve them. Louis & Michelle Perez, part of the NLC family, both provide important services as staff members at Dinuba's Parenting Network located along Alta Ave. by Grocery Outlet.

The Parenting Network let us know of a local family who needed beds: a full-size for the parents and a bunk-bed set for their 9-year daughter and 4-year old son. Carolyn Ehoff visited the home with a staff member from The Parenting Network and found there was a need for more than just beds. Our Home Resource Center provided the family with a table and four chairs, a loveseat and two side chairs, a dresser, bedding and pillows, and several other items including the "essential package" of household supplies, and a Bible.

The family spoke only Spanish, so translation was needed. Thankfully our partner was available to provide that this time. If you are willing to help haul furniture or translate in Spanish, please let Carolyn Ehoff or Phyllis Enns know. Just call the church office and we'll get you connected! 591-1176. We are active almost every week, and often more than once a week! We'll be helping another young couple with a newborn who have been living in the same home move into their own place next week. You can help!
