Celebrate Recovery Weekly Encouragement 1-11-23

Rebuilding with the Master Carpenter

We all, at some point, feel the brokenness of life – like a structure that has endured many storms and is in need of repair. But there is hope and strength to be found in the hands of Jesus.

Nehemiah 2:17-18 (NIV)
"Then I said to them, 'You see the trouble we are in: Jerusalem lies in ruins, and its gates have been burned with fire. Come, let us rebuild the wall of Jerusalem, and we will no longer be in disgrace.' I also told them about the gracious hand of my God on me and what the king had said to me. They replied, 'Let us start rebuilding.' So they began this good work."

Just like Nehemiah saw the ruined walls of Jerusalem and was moved to rebuild, God sees the broken parts of our lives and is moved with compassion to restore us. Nehemiah’s journey of rebuilding began with the acknowledgment of the problem and sharing the vision, which led to action.

Reconstruction Begins with Assessment
To rebuild effectively, we must first assess the extent of our damage. We need to be honest about our brokenness and humble enough to seek help.

Psalm 51:17 (NIV)
"The sacrifices of God are a broken spirit; a broken and contrite heart, O God, you will not despise."

The beautiful truth is that when we come to God with a sincere heart, admitting our need for His rebuilding, He is ready to start the work.

Reconstruction is not an instant process; it is done one brick at a time. Remembering that God’s timing is perfect and His methods are wise, we must trust Him through the process. As we rebuild our spiritual walls, it is crucial to surround ourselves with fellow believers who can encourage us, pray with us, and help us stay true to the divine design.
Philippians 1:6 (NIV)
"being confident of this, that He who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus."
We all can relay on Celebrate Recovery, just as the people of Jerusalem relied on one another under Nehemiah’s leadership. As we allow God to rebuild our lives, we are transformed, and designed for His purpose.
