Got plans for Mother's Day EVENING?
May 8th, 6:30 p.m.
The FPU Concert Choir will be performing in our Family Center worship space. They are a remarkable choir under the direction of Dr. Jeffrey Wilson. On May 9th they'll be staying in town to joining Dinuba High School choirs under the direction of Stephen Sawatzky.

Will you open your home to some FPU students?
Our church has the opportunity to keep these FPU choir students for night in our homes.
They'll need breakfast on Monday morning and be brought back to church by 9 a.m.
If you've hosted students before then you know how absolutely fun this is.
Please contact the church office and let us know if you can take 2, 4, or more.

Get in on the Growing!

I am so excited to see the new opportunities for growing our faith on Sunday mornings! Please consider joining one of these three classes with the goal of growing your knowledge of the Bible, of learning alongside others, and stretching yourself in order to grow in your faith.

I've been attending the video series class before church and would highly recommend you join the new series on the book of Titus starting this month. That book includes this timely gem: "For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. It teaches us to say “No” to ungodliness and worldly passions, and to live self-controlled, upright and godly lives in this present age, while we wait for the blessed hope—the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ" (Titus 2:11-13). Wow! That's so needed today.

Laurie and Nori are co-teaching a class on prayer that offers two outcomes: (1) you'll learn more about prayer and how to pray, and (2) you'll grow as a person of prayer by putting feet to your prayers. Once a month the class will go and pray over households in Dinuba as part of our Pray & Go effort. I can think of no other skill that will help you minister to others more than the simple readiness to offer to pray with someone right then and there, wherever you are.

But it you're new to the Christian faith or want a refresher, I would highly recommend you join the Foundations 101 class. Leroy Bumbaca will be using the Bible and actually has Bibles in the room for you to use, so everyone can be on the same page with each other. Bring your questions! This is meant to be a safe place to learn together.

As NLC's Life Groups have come to an end, we are launching new Grow Groups. These groups gather in homes where we can grow in our relationship with each other, with our Lord, and through challenges we may not be comfortable sharing in front of the whole church. One group is forming on Tuesday evenings and the other on Thursday evenings. If you didn't sign up at the Ministry Faire but would like to join a Grow Group, please let me know and we'll either get you into one of the groups or form a new one. Email me at pastor@newlifedinuba.org

So many people were either unable to attend the recent New Member Lunch, or have since decided it's time to join NLC. So on May 15th we will be offering another New Member Lunch after church. This time we'll be sending out information and some paperwork ahead of time to bring to the lunch, so you'll need to let us know you want to participate. Send me an email or call the church (559-591-1176) and we'll be sure you're included!
PRAYER
  • PRIORITY PRAYER: Our NLC Kids, Middle School, and Youth ministries are growing rapidly and in need of adults willing to relate, mentor, serve, lead, and teach with the love of Jesus. Ask God for his heart for our children, youth, and young families. Ask God what he might want to do through you for them. Ask our staff, Jessica and Steve, about the young ones they serve and where they might be able to plug you in.
  • Annie Enns' graveside service is planned for June 17th, 1 p.m., at the Reedley cemetery with a reception following in our NLC Dining Room. Remember her son Norm & Sherry, and daughter Joanne and family.
  • Pray for Jackie Elkins who is grieving the loss of her father, Charlie.
  • Pray for Chris Reimche's aunt Eleanor who was in a major traffic accident.
  • Pray for several people recovering from recent injuries, surgeries, or illnesses: Steve Bryan, Bo Olea, Joyce Braun, Bobby & Suzy Stucky, Carol Enns, and Nori Naylor
  • Continue to lift those with ongoing health issues to the Lord: Glen & Peggy Zimmerman, Ruth Serrato, Kathy Dougherty, JR Southard, Lois Brittel, Brian Smith, Galen Wiest, Kelly Friesen’s sister-in-law, Dana, and Ron Brown’s sister, Bonnie, at Palm Village.
  • Pray for those currently living in health/memory care: Olga Brandt, Chris Holmen, Vicky Barkman, Marilyn Chappell, Rosella Isaak, Luella Unruh and Alice White.
  • Johnny & Denise Esposito have plans to be back in the States from their time in Southeast Asia. Continue to pray for their ministry to pastors, church leaders, and believers there.
  • Pray for John Warkentin ministering with Multiply in Uganda.
  • Tom Regier will be sharing about his upcoming trip next Sunday, April 10th. Please pray the many details of this trip will come together for the 18th, that he'll be able to arrive without delay, work safely and effectively to put the plane back together, and return without issue.
  • Continue to pray for peace in Ukraine.
  • Pray for Multiply workers Gediminas & Kristina Dailyde in Lithuania.  The church’s challenge is to care for an increasing number of Ukrainian refugees. Marriages have been severely strained during the two-year pandemic, so pray as they relaunch Alpha courses, Bible studies, and marriage classes.
  • Several people at NLC are looking for work. Pray they can get interviews and be hired.
  • Pray for our new members: Beth, Grace, Mary, Steve & Anatalia, James, Monica, Brian, Erick, and Thannia, as well as Lily and Veronica joining this Sunday.
  • Pray for Ignite the Flame VBS coming during Easter week. Pray for Jessica as she leads, for all the preparations, for teachers and helpers, and that children who come would understand and receive the love God has for them through their savior, Jesus
